Jeffrey Pettijohn, a professional pianist and commissioned composer, began his musical studies at the age of 10. Seeking the highest caliber of teachers, he was privileged to have studied with concert pianists, John Khouri, Grace Owens, and Jacqueline Salas.
Jeffrey holds an Associate of Arts degree from Bellevue Community College, where he was attending when he took first place in the Eastside Young Artist Music Festival piano competition. Choosing to continue his musical education through private lessons, Jeffrey studied jazz with Marc Seales, head of the Jazz studies program at the University of Washington; and piano and composition with David Mesler, Emmy nominated composer and teacher at Seattle Central Community College.
Jeffrey’s varied interest has allowed him opportunities to perform in living rooms and concert halls, with soloist and choirs, and for children’s theaters and improve groups. Also a prolific composer, Jeffrey was commissioned by the Swedish Women’s chorus, has 3 major choral works, and creates new material consistently. His compositions have been performed at venues including Columbia Tower Club, Sherman Clay, Starbucks Coffee Company and the Swedish Cultural Center. Jeffrey is a full time piano teacher, who, with over 10 years of experience, has taught over 100 students.
